Colocation provider Element Critical continues its build its data center footprint through acquisitions, and has expanded into the Texas market this year by purchasing facilities in Houston and Austin.
Switch has unveiled plans to build a 1.5 million square foot data center campus adjacent to the Dell Technologies global headquarters in Round Rock, amplifying its recent entry into the Texas market with acquisition of Data Foundry.
Switch is acquiring data center provider Data Foundry for $420 million, expanding into the Texas market. The deal provides Switch with its fifth “prime” data center region, which will include Data Foundry facilities in Austin and Houston.
Amid a statewide power emergency, major data centers in Texas are running on generator power to keep customers online and reduce load on the state’s struggling grid. Large operators say service is uninterrupted, but news reports indicate some data centers in the region are experiencing outages.
