The April Data Center Job Spotlight highlights two opportunities in Canada — a sign of a market that “is really heating” up, according to Pkaza Critical Facilities Recruiting.

Readers in the market for their next data center position will also find opportunities below in California, Colorado and Georgia.

This month’s job spotlight also features a new MEP Superintendent position in the booming Northern Virginia market of Ashburn.

Senior Commissioning Engineer
Nationwide

This senior commissioning engineer opportunity is available in multiple markets across the U.S., including Northern Virginia, Denver, and more. The openings are with a leader in critical facilities assessment and commissioning services that who works with the mindset to provide reliability, energy efficiency, and sustainability when providing these consulting services.

This position includes managing projects,  and plans, providing and gathering specs, and executing assignments iin a multidisciplinary engineering commissioning role for large facility projects. Verticals include government, commercial, financial services, hospitals, or institutional in large/complex facilities and mission critical facilities.

Qualified candidates will have 7 to ten years of experience in the electrical or mechanical fields.

California 

Data Center Construction Superintendent
Sunnyvale, Calif. 

This opportunity in Sunnyvale, Calif., is with a mission-critical data center developer, wholesaler and colo provider.  The new data center construction superintendent will be responsible for field activities associated with the project, including supervision of all field construction work by electrical and mechanical subcontractors and self-performed work. The chosen candidate will also keep in constant contact with subcontractors to ensure timely work to keep project on time and within budget, as well as ensuring equipment purchased is onsite at the project when needed.

This position requires five or more years of data center/critical facilities MEP construction experience. Project size, scope, and complexity the years of experience will also be a large factor in the hiring process.

Virginia

MEP Superintendent
Ashburn Va. 

This MEP superintendent position is in one of the largest data center markets in the country in Ashburn, Va., with  a provider of mission-critical design build solutions. The company also has multiple critical facility openings throughout the U.S., managing budgets from $25 million to $200 million.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for field activities associated with the project, including supervision of all field construction work by electrical and mechanical subcontractors and self-performed work. He or she will also manage and mentor assistant project managers and other field personnel.

This position requires at least 8 years of commercial/critical facilities MEP Construction experience. Integrated project delivery experience is a huge plus.

Colorado

Director of Sales Engineering
Denver, Colo. 

This opportunity is with a provider of mission-critical data center colocation/interconnection facilities. The chosen candidate will
support data centers nationwide while serving as the subject matter expert on all data center products, services and solutions.

The Sales Engineer will be responsible for preparing proposals, presentations, and briefings. Candidates will also be expected to develop and maintain positive relationships with existing business partners in hopes to generate additional business.

Georgia

VP Colo Sales
Atlanta, Ga. 

This opportunity with a provider of data center colocation sites and requires at least 15 years of relevant data center sales experience.  The chosen candidate will support the region and pursue sales opportunities to attract customers for their data center colocation environment and product offerings, including disaster recovery.

Responsibilities also include calling on established clients and prospecting for new accounts among high-potential mission critical data center end-users, as well as hiring, developing and managing sales teams.

Canada  

Director – Data Center Construction
Montreal, Quebec

For this data center construction position in the growing Quebec colocation market, candidates must have experience managing teams running data center construction projects between $50 to $100 million.

Candidates  must also be familiar with the design process of building systems for data center and mission critical projects. Responsibilities include planning and organizing  multiple modular data center construction projects.

Data Center Facility Manager
Wendake, Quebec

This firm in Wendake, Quebec, is looking for an experienced critical facility manager to support a mission critical data center. The Data Center Manager will be responsible for managing the operation and maintenance of the critical facility physical infrastructure systems, in accordance with company’s policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include operating and managing both routine and emergency service on a variety of state of the art critical systems, including medium voltage switchgear, diesel generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, fire detection/suppression, building monitoring systems and more.
