Despite the national employment crisis, the data center industry continues to hire, with many new openings for managers and skilled staff in the leading cloud computing hubs and beyond. This August, that includes multiple positions in Northern Virginia, as well as jobs in Montreal, Seattle and Silicon Valley.

Controls Field Service Specialist
Ashburn, Va.
This Northern Virginia firm is looking for a fully competent Controls Field Technician, who applies an intensive and diversified knowledge of complete BMS/BAS, testing and operations. The new employee will be responsible for commissioning, maintaining and providing emergency support on critical controls systems at customers’ sites within their respective regional coverage area. The preferred candidate will have three to five years of experience with BMS and BAS controls.

Data Center Construction Manager
Ashburn, VA

This opportunity is with a leading provider of owner’s rep mission-critical data center construction solutions. The new hire will assist in planning and organizing large scale data center construction projects, put together critical facilities construction project plans, size up, costs, scheduling, timelines and more. Experience with data center construction projects is a huge plus.

UPS Field Service Technician
Ashburn, Va. 

This job opportunity is with a company that is a leader in third-party installs and corrective and preventive maintenance of mission-critical equipment. The firm is looking for a UPS Field Technician to apply an intensive and diversified knowledge of complete UPS start-up, testing and operations. The new hire will be responsible for commissioning, maintaining and providing emergency support on power electronics at customers’ sites within their respective regional coverage area. The chosen candidate will preferably have three or more years experience in this field and ability to troubleshoot down to component level on equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDU’s and STS.

Data Center Facility Manager
Montreal, Quebec
This opportunity north of the U.S. border is with a mission-critical data center developer and colocation provider. The company is looking for an experienced critical facility manager to support a mission critical data center. The individual in this position will operate and manage both routine and emergency service on a variety of state of the art critical systems such as: medium voltage switchgear, diesel generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, fire detection/suppression; building monitoring systems and more. Qualifications are seven to 10 years of data center or critical facility operations and maintenance experience.

UPS Field Service Technician
Seattle, Wash. 

This Pacific Northwest position is with a third-party installer and corrective and preventative maintenance of mission-critical equipment company, and it is looking for a new UPS Field Technician, who will be responsible for commissioning, maintaining and providing emergency support on power electronics at customers’ sites within their respective regional coverage area. When not in field involved in preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start-up and/or field modification, the candidate will occasionally train at the company’s headquarters testing equipment or rebuilding older systems. The position requires three  or more years’ experience in this field and ability to troubleshoot down to component level on equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDU’s and STS.

Director of Data Center Construction
Sunnyvale, Calif. 

This opportunity is with a data center developer/wholesaler/colo provider. Experience managing teams running data center construction projects is required. Extensive client-facing experience and full ownership of multiple projects is a m must, as well as experience managing multiple data center construction projects with budgets between $50-100 million.

Senior Electrical Engineer
White Plains, N.Y

This is an opportunity with an engineering design and commissioning company that is a nationwide leader in mission critical data center design. Data center critical facility experience is a huge plus for this position, and a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering is required, as well as seven to 10 years of related experience. Responsibilities include creating designs and plans, providing and gathering specifications, and executing assignments in a multidisciplinary electrical engineering design role for small to medium sized data center facility design projects.

Mechanical Project Engineer
Jamestown, N.C.

This opportunity is with a leading Mechanical Contractor offering a wide range of HVAC and mechanical critical cooling service and solutions. Responsibilities include managing projects, creating designs and plans, providing and gathering specifications, and executing assignments in a multidisciplinary mechanical engineering design role for complex facility design projects. This position requires five to 12 years of experience. And a Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering is preferred.

Project Manager – Data Center Construction
Secaucus, N.J.

This opportunity is  with a provider of mission-critical data center construction solutions. This firm provides a complete life cycle of solutions that are custom-fit to the requirements of their client’s mission-critical facilities. They build mission-critical data center facilities as well as labs and clean rooms for companies nationwide. This position requires experience managing data center construction projects with a design/build firm from ground up, as well as relevant experience in the data center construction industry.
