Data centers are still hiring, even amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as demand surges for online business tools and the value they provide. Top opportunities this month include multiple positions in both New York City and Seattle, a colo provider in Ashburn looking for a security specialist, and a Salt Lake City data center constructions solutions company searching for a new project manager.

Two NYC Positions 

Electrical Engineer
New York City 
This position is with an engineering design and commissioning company known as a regional leader in the Northeast. They provide design, commissioning consulting and management expertise in the data center and mission-critical facilities space. Data center critical facility experience is a huge plus for this position, and three to seven years of experience is expected, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering. Responsibilities include creating designs and plans, providing and gather specifications, and executing assignments in a multidisciplinary electrical engineering design role for small to medium-sized data center facility design projects.

Data Center Electrical Technician (Navy Nuclear Experience Preferred)
New York City
This opportunity is with a company that supports mission critical data center locations throughout the NYC Metro Area, providing services that support data center power within all electrical aspects of the data center. Their services support critical infrastructures within the data center environment with the mindset to provide reliability, energy efficiency, and sustainable design by offering power quality audits, infrared thermography, load studies, short circuit studies and preventative maintenance. The company is looking for an EMN, MMN or ETN to transition into a Data Center Power Systems Engineer role to support its critical data center clients.  This Critical Facility Field Engineer will be responsible for creating, implementing and supporting critical power solutions for their customers’ equipment keeping compliance with contractual commitments, directing technical and administrative tasks related to the operation of the critical facility infrastructure and assuring compliance with company’s policies and procedures. Six years of relevant experience is required.

Two New Seattle Openings

Data Center Electrician
Seattle, Wash.
This colo provider and data center developer provides data center solutions custom-fit to the requirements of their client’s mission-critical operational facilities, and provide reliability of mission-critical facilities for many of the world’s largest organizations. This new Critical Facility Engineer will be responsible for monitoring compliance with contractual commitments, directing technical and administrative tasks related to the operation of the critical facility infrastructure and assuring compliance with the company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include trouble shooting, running diagnostics, conducting preventative maintenance and more. Five years of relevant experience is required for this role.

Data Center Critical Power Sales Engineer
Seattle, Wash.
This position is with a leader in the critical facilities manufacturing market who is looking for a Senior Sales Engineer to join their team and support the Pacific Northwest region. They will support the region and pursue sales opportunities that are data center critical power product and solutions based. The Ideal candidate will possess contacts and an established rolodex of contacts in the mission critical data center and critical facilities marketplace. Five to 15 years of relevant consultative sales experience is required, and a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering is a huge plus for this position.

‘Data Center Alley’ Opportunity

Data Center Security Specialist
Ashburn, Va. 
This new security opportunity is with a colocation provider in the bustling Northern Virginia data center market. Responsibilities for this position include managing local contract security, training personnel, creating and modifying panel configurations, conducting physical security audits and more. Five or more years of experience managing security systems is required, as well as in-depth, hands-on expertise with all low-voltage security technologies, such as access control, IP networking and structured cabling.

UPS Service Manager
Pittsburgh
This Pittsburgh opportunity is with a critical power services company that specializes in installs, corrective and preventative maintenance of mission critical equipment. The chosen candidate will be responsible for managing service teams performing installation and maintenance of critical data center equipment, coordinating the schedule for all site visits, overseeing outside vendors that perform maintenance of critical cooling HVAC systems, and more. Experience with power equipment within a data center critical facility environment is required, as well extensive knowledge major brands of UPS systems and previous experience managing or leading a UPS field service team. Previous military experience and training is a plus. 

Project Manager – Data Center Construction
Salt Lake City, Utah 
This opportunity is with a leading provider of mission-critical data center construction solutions. Responsibilities include planning and organizing large scale data center construction projects — no less than $30 million — putting together construction plans, managing the financial aspects of contracts and more. Prior experience managing data center construction projects is required, and candidates must by familiar with the design process of building systems for data center and mission critical projects.

Critical Power Field Technician
Bridgewater, N.J. 
This opportunity is with a data center power services provider, and requires three to five years of experience. This could include a co-op, an internship, and/or Navy experience. Navy Nuke electrician experience and training is a huge plus for this position. Responsibilities include conducting short circuit studies, assisting with electrical design as needed, and assisting commissioning teams when onsite at customer locations to run tests of critical facility operations.

UPS Field Service Technician
San Jose, Calif.
This Technician opportunity is with a company that provides third-party installs, corrective and preventative maintenance of mission critical equipment. The candidate chosen for the Northern California position will be responsible for commissioning, maintaining and providing emergency support on power electronics at customers’ sites within their respective regional coverage area. When not in the field involved in preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start-up and/or field modification, the chosen candidate will occasionally train at the company’s headquarters testing equipment or rebuilding older systems. The company prefers candidates have three to five or more years of experience in this field and ability to troubleshoot down to component level on equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDU’s, STS, and more.
